1Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)
Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) is a crystalline type of thermoplastic engineering plastics with a chemical structure shown in the figure below:
PPS is the first major variety of special engineering plastics, known as the "sixth largest engineering plastics in the World" after Polyamide (PA), Pom, polycarbonate (PC), polyester (PET), polyphenylene ether (PPO).
2TORAY TORELINA® PPS Resin
Toray Torelina Series PPS resin materials are commonly used in the formation of inorganic compounds containing glass fibers and so on, which have exceptionally excellent properties among all thermoplastic resins, e.g. heat resistance, rigidity, dimensional stability, heat and humidity resistance, chemical resistance and flame retardancy. By adding glass fiber, carbon fiber, minerals, carbon nanotubes, PTFE, graphene, molybdenum disulfide and other materials modified to increase electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, heat resistance, wear resistance, high strength, hydrolysis resistance and other characteristics, it is formed into a special engineering plastics with unique functions, thus is widely used in mechanical parts, automotive parts, electrical and electronic components, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, light industry and military, aerospace and many other special areas.
3TORELINA® Product Features
TORELINA offers excellent long-term heat resistance, capable of sustained continuous use at 200˚C to 240˚C.
It can also withstand high temperatures of 260˚C or greater for a short period of time.
With a melting point of about 280˚C, a glass transition temperature of about 90˚C and a heat distortion temperature of 260˚C to 270˚C, TORELINA exhibits high strength even at high temperatures, while also offering excellent creep resistance.
TORELINA has a low water-absorption ratio, thus offers high levels of strength even in hot water.
TORELINA has a high degree of resistance to acids, alkalis, and various organic solvents, which is the second-highest resistance after fluororesin.
TORELINA offers high flame retardance (UL94 flammability class of 0) even without the addition of a flame retarder.
TORELINA exhibits excellent electrical properties even at high humidity and temperature.
TORELINA exhibits excellent dimensional stability in a variety of environments due to its excellent heat resistance, water resistance, and chemical resistance.
TORELINA exhibits excellent fluidity, allowing it to be used for the injection molding of precision molding parts.
